ABOUT

Emma Buchan

Where have you come from?
I have worked for many architectural and interior design practices in London, including: Hawkins\Brown, Creativemass, Kemp Muir Wealleans and KLA Architects.
What work do you have?
A mixture of bespoke residential schemes including extensions, conversions and some interior remodelling projects.
What are your ambitions?
To collaborate on projects with other designers and architects. I enjoy working with existing buildings to create new spaces with a Passivhaus influence.
Which scheme inspires you most?
I recently travelled across Mexico where I came across the ruins of a colonial-style building in Oaxaca. The space had been converted into beautiful gardens. It was amazing and the combination of artwork, plants and ruins worked to create a wonderful atmosphere. But Kéré Architecture’s school extension in Gando, Burkina Faso, inspired me to work on some humanitarian projects.
